וַיַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת־שֵׁ֤בֶט בִּנְיָמִן֙ למשפחתו [לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔יו] וַתִּלָּכֵ֖ד מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמַּטְרִ֑י וַיִּלָּכֵד֙ שָׁא֣וּל בֶּן־קִ֔ישׁ וַיְבַקְשֻׁ֖הוּ וְלֹ֥א נִמְצָֽא׃
Und er brachte den Stamm Benjamin in die Nähe ihrer Familien, und die Familie der Matriten wurde genommen; und Saul, der Sohn Kischs, wurde genommen; aber als sie ihn suchten, konnte er nicht gefunden werden.

And Shaul… was singled out. Even though he was not there, the lot fell upon him, for their names were written on pieces of parchment and placed in a box. The prophet would insert his hand and take one piece of parchment.
